Crystal is a renowned Guzheng musician, composer, and educator, widely recognized as an internationally acclaimed Guzheng performer and dedicated promoter of Chinese zither artistry. She is the President of the Dallas Guzheng Association, Founder of the Chinese Zither Network, and Founder & Producer of the Music of Love Charity Concert. She is also a committee member of the China Guzheng Association and the Shaanxi Qinzheng Association, and serves as a Texas Young Masters Program Evaluator for the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Crystal began her professional Guzheng training at the age of six after being admitted to the Xi’an Conservatory of Music, where she studied under the distinguished Guzheng master Professor Jun Wei. She later pursued advanced studies in Guzheng performance at the China Conservatory of Music. Throughout her artistic journey, she was mentored by renowned Guzheng masters Yanjia Zhou, Zhongshan Wang, and Yun Qu, whose guidance profoundly shaped her artistic development.

Building upon her rigorous professional training, Crystal has inspired audiences worldwide with her exceptional technical mastery and profound emotional expression. Her students span more than ten countries, reflecting her international influence as an educator. In addition, she offers professional mentorship and pedagogical training to Guzheng teachers across multiple countries, contributing to the advancement of teaching standards and the development of the next generation of Guzheng educators globally. As a cultural ambassador, she actively organizes concerts, contributes to national and international cultural exchange programs, performs for film and television productions, and reaches millions through digital platforms.

Crystal has created numerous original Guzheng works, including Chunqiu Fu. She has also adapted popular songs into Guzheng arrangements, bringing traditional sounds into contemporary musical contexts. Her Guzheng-inspired poetry has been widely shared. Today, she is devoted to passing on her artistry and passion to the next generation and to all who are inspired by the timeless beauty of the Guzheng.

Our Philosophy of Guzheng Learning

A learning journey proven efficient, productive, and successful

Solid Foundation Building

There is no such thing of overemphasizing the importance of the foundation building. Basic skill training is extremely important in our teaching philosophy. In this stage, we focus on accuracy, strength, speed and fine control. We found many students with previous training come to us to re-learn the basic skill sets in the right way.

Advanced Technique Mastering

Advanced technique mastering requires the solid foudation building. In this stage, we focus on the advanced technique practice, as well as agility and high frequency of changes of different techniques. We introduce expressions of different musical arts by various techniques on the same note.

Performance Technique Training and Presentation

Staging performances are one of the best ways to demonstrate guzheng skills and artistic performance, and require specialized training and practice, such as how to perform gracefully and demonstrate playing skills. We host and co-organize many guzheng performances throughout the year. Our students of all levels are offered the opportunity to perform on stage.
